The world’s first cancer vaccine will be tested in 130 different patients in 7 countries, including Turkey!

For more than a year, scientists have been testing a new mRNA vaccine that targets and kills the body’s cancer cells and prevents them from reappearing. The vaccine, called BNT116 and produced by BioNTech, was originally developed for use in the treatment of lung cancer, known as the most common type of cancer. In this context, the vaccine, which was applied to a patient in the UK for the first time in recent months, has recently started to be tested in 7 different countries, including Turkey.

Phase one clinical trials of BNT116 are being conducted at 34 research centres in the UK, USA, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Spain and Turkey. The new mRNA vaccine will be administered in combination with immunotherapy treatment to around 130 people at different stages of the disease, from early stages before radiotherapy to late stages.

For those who don’t know, the first dose of the vaccine in the UK was given to a 67-year-old patient, Janusz Racz, who lives in London. Racz, who was vaccinated once a week for six weeks, will be vaccinated every three weeks for the next 54 weeks. Racz, who was diagnosed with cancer in May and received chemotherapy treatment, said, ‘The progress of science lies in people’s acceptance to participate in such research.’
