The National Women’s Volleyball Team defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 in its second match at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and advanced to the quarterfinals.
The National Women’s Volleyball Team defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 in its second match at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and got its second win.While the match started with mutual points, the Dominican Republic brought the score to 8-4 with its effective game. After the break, the national team tried to show a better image in defense, but the Dominican Republic increased the difference to 6 with the numbers in front of the net: 11-17. Although the national team reduced the difference with Vargas’ consecutive points, Dominican Republic won the first set with a score of 25-21.
SULTANS START THE 2ND SET FAST
“Sultans of Filenin” started the second set fast. Eda Erdem Dündar and Melissa Vargas‘ points brought the score to 7-3. After the break, Dominican Republic scored consecutive points and reduced the difference to 1 point: 8-7. After Ebrar Karakurt entered the game, the national team went on a 7-1 run: 15-8. After Eda Erdem Dündar and Melissa Vargas’ dunks, the national team did not allow the difference to close and equalized the score by completing the set 25-18 ahead.The “Sultans of Filenin” started the third set well and brought the score to 7-3 with the points of Melisa Vargas and İlkin Aydın. In the rest of the set, the difference increased even more with the performances of Vargas as well as Zehra Güneş, Hande Baladın and Gizem in defense: 15-8. In the middle of the set, Dominican Republic reduced the difference to 3 points with consecutive points: 21-18. Maintaining their superiority in the last part with the performances of Hande Baladın and Vargas, the national team won the set 25-22 and took a 2-1 lead.
4TH SET ENDED 25-15
Starting the fourth set with Zehra’s point, the national team took a 5-1 lead with the scoring play of Vargas and İlkin. The score was 11-4 with captain Eda on offense and Zehra on defense. The national team won the set 25-15 and the match 3-1, leaving the second match with a victory.Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak also watched the match in the hall. Turkish spectators who came to the hall from France and different countries of Europe did not leave the National Women’s Volleyball Team alone. Having won both of their matches in the group, the National Women’s Volleyball Team will face Italy in their last match in Group C on Sunday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. (TSI).
