The Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to Swedish scientist Svante Paabo for his work on “Genomes of extinct hominins and human evolution”.
Arguably one of the most prestigious prizes in the world of science, it is awarded by the Nobel Assembly of Sweden’s Karolinska Institute and is worth 10 million Swedish kronor ($900,357).
