Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 Introduced: What Features Will It Provide to Phones?
Qualcomm’s new processor Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which offers advanced performance, camera features and 5G connectivity for mobile devices, was introduced. Details are here!
Qualcomm has long been the market leader in the mobile processor space and looks set to solidify its position with the announcement of its newest processor, the Snapdragon7+ Gen 2. Snapdragon7+ Gen 2 is designed to provide users with “legendary experiences” and bring the requested flagship features to the 7 series.
Improved Performance
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is a 4 nm processor with peak Kryo CPU speeds of 2.91 GHz and 50% better performance than 7 Gen 1. This improvement is partly due to the processor’s 1 main (Cortex X2) + 3 performance + 4 efficiency cores. There’s also 2x improvement for GPU and AI Engine, the biggest performance leap in 7 series history.
Qualcomm’s Adreno GPU is one of the standout features of this latest processor, with Automatic Variable Rate Shading and volumetric processing for fog, smoke and other particle graphics. This allows users to experience high quality gaming with excellent graphics.
Camera Features
One of the highlights of the Snapdragon7+ Gen 2 lies in its camera features. The processor supports a “mega low-light mode” that includes shooting up to 200 MP, “shooting HDR video with triple exposure from two cameras at the same time,” and capturing and combining 30 images. This allows users to shoot high-quality images and videos, and even fast-moving scenes can be captured in excellent detail with progressive HDR video capture.
5G Connection
Snapdragon7+ Gen 2 also comes with SnapdragonX62 5G modem and 5G/4G Dual-Sim Dual Active (DSDA) support for speeds up to 4.4 Gbps. This allows users to enjoy high internet speeds and uninterrupted connection. FastConnect 6900 for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 is another feature of this processor as it provides fast and reliable wireless connectivity. Quick Charge 5, which provides 0-50% charge in just five minutes, is also powered by Snapdragon7+ Gen 2.
The first devices from Qualcomm with this new processor are coming this month and it will be interesting to see their performance.
