The Russian soldier, who had been hiding from the Ukrainian forces for six months, was arrested. The 42-year-old soldier was reportedly hiding in abandoned buildings after the city of Kharkiv passed to Ukrainian forces.
As the war between Russia and Ukraine has raged for over a year, a Russian soldier reportedly hiding in abandoned buildings for nearly six months has been arrested by Ukrainian police. The regional police patrolling the villages in the Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi region arrested the 42-year-old soldier from the 27th Russian Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade. In the statement made by the police, “After a search, the person from the Moscow region turned out to be a soldier of the 27th Separate Guard Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian Federation. The arrested person claimed that he has been in hiding since the liberation of the Kupiansk region by the Ukrainian armed forces.”
It is not known how the Russian soldier, who was arrested in civil clothes, managed to hide for six months. After the city of Kharkiv passed to Ukrainian forces, Ukrainian forces are conducting a massive search operation door-to-door for Russian soldiers who are left behind or who are planning sabotage.
