National athlete Ali Cengiz won the gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships. Cengiz also received a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
National athlete Ali Cengiz, who competed in the 2023 World Wrestling Championships in Serbia, won the gold medal by defeating his Hungarian opponent David Losonczi in the final.
In the organization in the capital Belgrade, Cengiz faced Hungarian David Losonczi in the final of the 87 kg wrestling category.
Ali Cengiz, who defeated his opponent with a score of 8-7, won the gold medal and became the world champion.

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak congratulated Cengiz, who won the gold medal and received a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In his congratulatory message, Minister Bak said, “I congratulate Cengiz who won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman style 87 kg at the World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, and achieved a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics. I wish our national wrestler success at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games where he will represent our country. I also congratulate Enes Başar, who won the bronze medal in the Greco-Roman style 63 kg, and Selçuk Can, who won the bronze medal in the 72 kg category.”
