Meta announced 5 new features for messaging functionality on Instagram. Let's take a closer look at these features.
US-based technology giant Meta is adding new features to its social media application Instagram.
These features include the ability to edit messages and turn read receipts off and on.
Most of the new features are available in the latest update of the app. Let’s examine these features together.
1.Message editing
According to this feature, users will be able to edit a message within 15 minutes of sending it.
The feature will be used to edit a message to correct a typo or for similar reasons.
To edit a message on Instagram, press and hold on the message you want to edit and select ‘Edit’.
2.Chat pinning
With this feature, users will be able to pin up to three chats to the top of the message box.
To pin a conversation, press and hold or swipe left on the conversation you want to pin and select ‘Pin’.
3.Turning off read receipt
When you send a message to someone on Instagram and they read it, the app shows you a note below the message saying that the other person read it.
While this is a very useful feature, some people don’t want others to know they’ve read their messages.
You can turn off read receipts for all chats or for selected chats. To turn it off for all messages, go to Settings ” Messages and story replies ” Show read receipts and turn it off.
4.New chat themes
Meta is now adding several new chat themes to the platform, including Love, Lollipop and Avatar: The Last Airbender and many new chat themes.
Meta has started rolling out these features with the latest versions of the app for each platform (Android and iOS). So make sure to update the app to the latest version.
5.Favorite stickers
You can now save your favorite stickers in DMs for easy access. Press and hold the sticker you want to save and you’ll find them at the top the next time you go to stickers.
