Ivory Coast Champions Of The African Cup Of Nations
Ivory Coast, who beat Nigeria 2-1 in the final of the African Cup of Nations, reached the championship in the tournament they hosted. Ivory Coast thus became the champion of the African Cup of Nations for the third time.
In the final of the 34th Africa Cup of Nations organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) this year, Nigeria and hosts Ivory Coast faced each other.
In the first half of the match played at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, Nigeria led 1-0 with William Troost-Ekong’s goal in the 38th minute.
Ivory Coast, who equalized with Franck Kessie’s goal in the 62nd minute, scored another goal with Sebastien Haller in the 81st minute and won the match 2-1.
Thus, Ivory Coast won the African Cup of Nations title for the third time after 1992 and 2015.
Max Gradel, who plays for Gaziantep FC, and Serge Aurier, who transferred to Galatasaray, started the game for Ivory Coast, while Trabzonspor’s Nicolas Pepe was on the bench.
In Nigeria, Bright Osayi-Samuel (Fenerbahçe), Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor), Kenneth Omeruo (Kasımpaşa) and Ahmed Musa (Sivasspor) did not get a chance.
