Istanbul’s Pearl “Maiden’s Tower” Reopens Today
The restoration works of the Maiden's Tower, one of the symbols of Istanbul, have been completed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. After a 2-year break, the Maiden's Tower will open its doors to visitors after the light and sound shows this evening.
Its history dates back to 410 BC.
The Maiden’s Tower, one of the most special structures of Istanbul, will reopen its doors to visitors today.
Made Earthquake Resistant
The restoration of the Maiden’s Tower started in 2021 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and meticulous work was carried out.
Data from the 18th century shed light on the restoration.
The Maiden’s Tower was restored to its condition during the reign of Mahmut II. The non-original roof additions in the tower and castle section were removed. The historical structure was made earthquake resistant.
Light Show Will Be Held
A light show has also been prepared for the opening ceremony this evening.
The show about the love between the Maiden’s Tower and the Galata Tower, which is the subject of poems and stories, will color Istanbul every evening from the opening.
