Gökbey Helicopter Prepares For Missions All Over Turkey
GÖKBEY, Turkey's first indigenous helicopter, is being tested all over Turkey for different usage concepts and climatic conditions.
GÖKBEY, the product of the Indigenous Helicopter Program, which was launched in 2013 to meet the general purpose helicopter needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and other institutions, is preparing for duty with a multifaceted and intensive test marathon.
The GÖKBEY helicopter, which made its first flight on September 6, 2018, is being tested under various conditions in order to meet the users with its full performance.
During the testing process, the flight and test teams, as well as the personnel of the user organizations, are working hard.
Testing Under Different Conditions
The facilities of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), which designs and manufactures the helicopter, in Kahramankazan are the center for the tests conducted for GÖKBEY. Many tests related to GÖKBEY are carried out in different infrastructures in the facility.
In addition, GÖKBEY is being subjected to simultaneous tests in different parts of Turkey for different usage concepts and climatic conditions.
As part of these activities, TAI teams conducted three different tests with the GÖKBEY helicopter on March 10 in Ankara, Kocaeli and Erzurum.
“MCP VNE 165 Knt engine vibration tests” were carried out with the P3 prototype at Ankara Akıncı facilities, “sea level autopilot malfunction certification tests” (pilot taking over the control in case of autopilot shutdown and continuing safe navigation or landing) with the P2 prototype in Kocaeli, and “snow tests” with the gendarmerie J6001 helicopter in Erzurum.
Will Be Able To Operate In The Most Challenging Climates And Geographies
Due to its wide range of missions, GÖKBEY will be able to perform transportation, VIP, cargo, air ambulance, search and rescue and off-shore transportation missions.
For domestic and foreign users, the GÖKBEY helicopter will be able to perform its missions in the most challenging climates and geographies, at high altitudes and temperatures, in day and night conditions.
The military versions of the helicopter will be delivered to users after military certification and qualification processes.
3 Gökbeys Will Soon Be Delivered To The Gendarmerie General Command
The civil version will be offered to civilian users with the type certificate to be issued by the Directorate General at the end of the civil certification process carried out with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Accordingly, three GÖKBEYs will soon be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command.
