File sharing between Windows computers and Android phones is getting easier. With the new feature, it will be possible to easily share files similar to Apple’s AirDrop through the Link to Windows and Phone Link applications.
The feature, which works on Windows 10 and above systems, will first be offered to Windows Insiders on the Release Preview Channel. In addition, the Windows connection application on Android phones must be version 1.24032.518.0 or higher and the Phone connection application on your computer must be version 1.24032.156.0 or higher.
Direct file sharing from the right-click menu
To share files between devices, simply right-click on the selected file in Windows and select ‘Share’, then click on the ‘Phone connection’ icon in the Sharing window and select the phone connected to your computer (if the phone is not connected, you need to pair it). In summary, the new feature allows sharing directly from the right-click menu without entering any application.
It is possible to do the same on Android phones via the Sharing menu, this time by selecting the ‘Windows connection’ option.
