Elon Musk Bought Twitter, His First Job Was To Fire The CEO
The process of purchasing Twitter, the social media platform of Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and one of the richest business people in the world, has been completed. Musk became the new owner of Twitter after the $44 billion acquisition. According to reports in the American press, after Musk bought the platform, he fired high-ranking people, including Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.
Vijaya Gadde, the head of legal policy, trust and security, who made the decision to permanently suspend Trump from Twitter, is among those sacked.
Elon Musk referred to his purchase of Twitter after all this process and wrote: “The bird is freed.”
Ross Gerber, a Twitter investor and CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Investments, confirmed to the BBC that the takeover has been completed.
Layoffs have begun
After acquiring the platform, Musk fired Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and the firm’s senior legal and policy executive Vijaya Gadde. Agrawal and Segal were kicked out of Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters following the conclusion of the deal, Reuters reported.
Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter, also thanked the three names for their contributions to the company in a social media post.
“I bought it to help humanity”
In a statement he made yesterday, Musk explained why he bought Twitter. In the seven paragraph text published with the note “Dear Twitter advertisers”, Musk stated the reason for purchasing the platform as follows: “I didn’t buy it to make more money, I bought it to help humanity.”
This move of Musk, who previously came to Twitter with a kitchen sink in his hand, was interpreted by those who followed the subject as a message that a change would be made in the company from start to finish. Earlier, in the news in the American press, it was claimed that Musk would lay off 75 percent of the company.
