Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr, has been banned for one match for his actions against fans.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee announced that Ronaldo was given a one-match ban for his gesture towards the fans after Al Nassr’s 3-2 win over Al Shabab in the away match.
It was also reported that Ronaldo was ordered to pay a fine of 10 thousand Saudi Arabian riyals (approximately 83 thousand liras) to the federation and 20 thousand Saudi Arabian riyals (approximately 166 thousand liras) to Al Shabab Club.
Ronaldo was referred for disciplinary action after the match for his gesture towards the fans of the opposing team who were cheering for Argentine star football player Lionel Messi.
In a statement on the subject, the Portuguese footballer said, “I respect all clubs. I was enjoying the joy of the win after the match. It was not an embarrassing gesture. We are used to this in Europe.”
