Countdown to Dev Update of Windows 11
New information continues to come about 23H2, the next big update for Windows 11. Here are the details…
Windows 11 is in constant flux and regularly receives new updates to improve the user experience. The first major Windows 11 update was version 22H2, which came out last year, and since then, smaller updates have been coming that add new features and capabilities. However, we are not far from 23H2, the other big update for Windows 11 right now.
Dev update for Windows 11: 23H2 update
While Microsoft has yet to announce Windows 11 version 23H2, this update is expected in the next few months. Thanks to the Windows Insider program, where we can see many Windows 11 features in the preview, and the latest announcements from Build 2023, we have ideas about what will happen when the update comes.
Microsoft has been trying to dive completely into artificial intelligence for the past few months. The next step is Windows. During Build 2023, Microsoft announced Windows Copilot, an AI assistant that leverages major language models like GPT-4 to help you do almost anything on your computer.
Windows Copilot can do many things that Bing Chat can do. Copilot isn’t available in preview yet, so we don’t know firsthand everything it can do, but the potential is huge, according to Microsoft’s announcement.
With the new version, WinUI 3-based File Explorer is also renewed. Although Windows 11 has already been renewed with its original version, Microsoft has decided to revise it again. Along with it comes a new audio mixer that has been requested for years. With this update, you will be able to open the volume mixer more easily. For this, it will be enough to press Windows + Ctrl + V keys.
Windows 11 version 23H2 will try to make it easier to manage RGB lighting effects for your connected peripherals with the new Dynamic Lighting page in the Settings app. This feature, which will be very useful especially for those who use devices of more than one brand, has been requested for years. With this feature, you will be able to manage the lighting effects of all your devices from a single page.
Microsoft will also update Windows Spotlight. Windows Spotlight now supports 4K wallpapers, making the feature more useful for users with high resolution displays. In addition, new emojis will come and some emojis will be redesigned.
With this update, Microsoft is adding a new home page to the settings app that will quickly make your most relevant settings available. The Settings page will learn from your usage habits and offer cards that provide quick access to the settings you’ll need most. The new version will also support HDR wallpapers. You can now set images in .JXR format as wallpaper.
When will the Windows 11 23H2 update come?
Microsoft has not yet announced a specific release date for Windows 11 version 23H2. However, it is assumed that the new version will be announced in the fall of 2023. This will most likely happen in September or October near the launch of new Surface devices. Version 22H2 became available on September 20, just days before the first anniversary of Windows 11. We can expect something similar with this update.
