Cagla Sikel was born on January 2, 1979 in Istanbul, the second child of Asuman and Hüseyin Sikel. Her father, a financial advisor, is an Azeri from Kars and her mother, a housewife, is from Adana. She has an older sister named Berna.
Cagla Sikel started her education at Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar Primary School in Istanbul between 1985-1989, and she studied ballet at Istanbul University State Conservatory from the 4th grade.
After finishing primary school, she completed her secondary school education at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory between 1990-1993.
After completing her high school education at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory between 1993-1996, she received her undergraduate education at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory between 1997-1999 and graduated in 1999.
Career
Cagla Sikel starred in the movie Odessia in 1996 and won first place in the Miss Turkey contest in 1997. She then participated in the Miss World 97 beauty pageant held in Seychelles and ranked fourth in the world and received the European Beauty Queen award.
Between 1997 and 2003, she appeared in fashion shows in France, USA, Germany, China, Russia, Greece, Switzerland and Egypt. In 2004 she starred in the TV series Cennet Mahallesi and in 2008 in the TV series Gorgusuzler.
After 16 years, she returned to ballet, which she had been trained in but took a long break, with the ballet work “Bach Alla Turca” with the dancers of Samsun State Opera and Ballet at the 11th International Bodrum Ballet Festival on August 10-11, 2013.
Personal Life
Cagla Sikel had a short-lived romance with Bozok Goren, a model like herself, in 2002. She then had a relationship with Beyazıt Öztürk.
Cagla Sikel stayed with pop singer Emre Altug for about 4 years. The couple got married on August 10, 2008 at the entertainment venue Sortie. Şıkel announced that she was pregnant with her first baby on December 18, 2008.
However, the same week, she suddenly fell ill and miscarried her baby. On October 31, she gave birth to a baby boy named Kuzey. She has another son named Uzay.
Cagla Sikel and Emre Altug divorced on January 12, 2015.
