Booking.com’s Turkey Operations Suspended

As a result of the lawsuit filed by the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, the famous travel site Booking.com, which operates in more than 225 countries, decided to cease its operations in Turkey. This decision about Booking.com, which is widely used in our country and loved by users, caused reactions. Here are some of them.

In order to stop the activities that constitute unfair competition against the travel agencies that are members of the Union and which constitute a significant problem in the tourism sector, carried out on the Bookingcom website; OUR REQUEST FOR MEASURES WAS ACCEPTED at the hearing of the lawsuit filed by TÜRSAB with the file no 2015/1174 E. held in Istanbul (5) on 29.03.2017.

The explanation from Booking.com’s own site is as follows:

Unfortunately, it is only possible for our customers in Turkey to book international properties with us right now. We are working on resolving the issues that have prevented us from offering you our full range of services. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your continued custom with Booking.com.
