Bill Gates: I Would Prefer Vaccine Than Go To Mars
The tech billionaire said it was expensive to go to the Red Planet. Gates said he prioritized investing in vaccines rather than traveling to Mars.
SpaceX owner Elon Musk aims to send 1 million people to Mars by 2050.
Bill Gates, one of the founders of Microsoft, opposed Musk, who wanted to colonize the Red Planet, which is about 55 million kilometers away.
Musk thinks a hypothetical price of $100,000 for a trip to Mars should be “affordable” for most people.
Opposes Travel to Mars
Gates told the BBC he would rather spend the money on vaccines than Mars:
Going to Mars is quite expensive. You can buy a measles vaccine and save lives for $1,000. This situation kind of tells you not to go to Mars and keeps your feet on the ground.
American technology billionaire Gates stated in his previous statement that he believes the next pandemic will be much worse than the coronavirus, and that it will also occur from a man-made virus.
Artificial Intelligence Interpretation
Gates, 67, also believes that artificial intelligence will transform humanity “quite dramatically”:
It will help us address medical and scientific issues. Not only are robots helping to read and write as well.
