Asus ROG Ally Technical Specifications Revealed in Full Details
New details continue to come from the Asus ROG Ally handheld console, which has been announced as a direct competitor of Steam Deck. The latest leak reveals the curious hardware details of the device.
After the successful launch of Valve Steam Deck, leading companies turned their eyes to portable handheld consoles. One of them, Asus, made a serious impact by announcing the ROG Ally model a while ago. Positioned as a direct competitor of Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally aims to be twice as efficient as its competitor.
Asus ROG Ally Specs Detailed
According to unofficial information, Asus ROG Ally will be released in the second half of the year, but this date may be delayed. On the other hand, the hardware side, which is one of the most curious details about the device, started to take shape. A new report from VideoCards reveals that the Asus ROG Ally will feature an unreleased Ryzen 7 7840U, Radeon 780M iGPU and 16GB of RAM.
We already knew that the console would have a custom APU, but the chip inside was unclear. Previous leaks about the Ryzen 7 7840U point to the RDNA 3 Radeon 780M integrated graphics unit, in addition to 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 4 architecture. Supported by Radeon 780M, the processor scored close to GTX 1650 in 3DMark Time Spy. However, as we said, the system inside ROG Ally will be special.
Already another leak confirms this particular design. A press render that has emerged shows that this Phoenix APU is codenamed Z1. However, the 7-inch screen of ROG Ally will offer 500 nits of brightness. The response time of this screen, which offers a 120 Hz refresh rate, is 7ms. In addition, 16 GB LPDDR5 dual channel memory and 512 GB M.2 SSD are other highlights.
The upcoming Asus ROG Ally will be narrower, thinner and lighter than its rival Valve Steam Deck. It is known that the device will weigh 608 grams and measure 280mm x 113mm x 39mm. Therefore, there are two things we do not know for now, the price and the release date. On the price side, rumors state that the Asus ROG Ally will be around $650.
