Arrest warrant for film and theater directors in Russia
Russian court issues arrest warrant for film director Alexander Rodnyansky and theater director Ivan Vyrypaev, who criticized the war in Ukraine
The court in Moscow, the capital of Russia, issued an arrest warrant for the two directors. The court found Alexander Rodnyansky and Ivan Vyrypaev guilty of “spreading false information” about the Russian army.
In the statement made by the court, it was stated that Alexander Rodnyansky and Ivan Vyrypaev were located outside of Russia and would be arrested if they were caught. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has added Vyrypaev to the federal wanted list.
“foreign AGENT” WAS ANNOUNCED
Alexander Rodnyansky, born in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, and one of the most influential figures in Russian cinema, left Russia in February 2022 after the start of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. Rodnyansky was declared a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice in October 2022 for his anti-war statements.
Ivan Vyrypaev, who lives in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, also harshly criticized Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, many opposition figures who made anti-war statements in Russia were fined and jailed, some were declared foreign agents and others were blacklisted.
