ASTEROIDS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES IF THEY HIT THE EARTH

This asteroid, detected for the first time by NASA’s Near Earth Objects Monitoring Programme, is expected to pass at a distance of about 2.6 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon. The detail that worries scientists about the object is the concern that it could have major consequences in the event of the slightest deviation in its path.
Scientists are evaluating the potential effects of the asteroid using powerful radar and optical telescopes. However, in the light of current data, the probability of a collision with Earth seems quite low.
