Almost one in three women in France is raped
In a study conducted in France, it was revealed that almost one out of every three women had been raped.
In France, the High Council for Equality between Women and Men (HCEFH) under the Prime Ministry published a report on sexism cases.
The results of the research, which was carried out with 2,500 people over the age of 15, on October 5-26, 2022, will be presented to President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the research conducted by the Viavoice Institute for HCEFH, while sexism has not decreased in the country, 37 percent of women were forced into sexual intercourse without their consent.
While 80 percent of women report being treated worse than men, nearly a third say they have been raped.
While cases of sexism and rape are common among young people, 26 percent of men find interventions and measures against sexual violence exaggerated.
FRENCH AUTHORITIES ARE NOT ENOUGH TO FIGHT
While a quarter of men aged 25-34 in the country think that violence should be respected, 40 percent of men think that women should look after their children at any age.
Only 9 percent of men find it normal for men to do housework. This rate was reflected in the report as 15 percent for men aged 25-34.
82 percent of the country’s population want the issue of gender to be among the priority agenda items of the government.
HCEFH stressed that the report is alarming and that the efforts of the French authorities in this regard are insufficient.
