In 2022, more than 319 billion minutes were spoken on the phone, 65 billion 256 million gigabytes of internet were used.
According to a written statement from the Ministry, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu evaluated the “Turkish Electronic Communications Industry Quarterly Market Data Report” for the 4th quarter of 2022.
Stating that the sales revenues of the operators operating in the sector reached 130 billion liras in 2022 with an increase of 40.7 percent compared to the previous year, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that the investments of all the operators in the sector increased by 42.7 percent compared to the previous year and exceeded 31 billion liras.
The total number of mobile numbers ported exceeded 167.2 million
Underlining that the number of mobile subscribers reached 90.3 million as of the end of last year, Karaismailoğlu said:
“The prevalence of mobile subscribers was 105.9 percent. 82.9 million of mobile subscribers preferred the 4.5G subscription, which started service in 2016. The 4.5G service accounted for 91.8 percent of the total subscribers. The number of M2M subscribers reached 8.1 million. “The total number of mobile numbers ported exceeded 167.2 million by the end of 2022. The number of mobile numbers ported in 2022 approached 9.6 million.”
The number of fiber internet subscribers increased to 5.7 million
Referring to the number of internet subscribers, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the total number of broadband internet subscribers, 71.7 million of which is mobile, increased by 2.5 million in a year to 90.6 million. Karaismailoğlu stated that the fiber infrastructure reached 517.3 thousand kilometers with an increase of 9.8 percent, and pointed out that the number of fiber internet subscribers rose to 5.7 million with an increase of 17.8 percent.
Karaismailoğlu said, “While the average monthly data usage of fixed broadband subscribers was 204 gigabytes in the last quarter of 2021, this figure increased to 243 gigabytes in the last quarter of 2022. In 2022, we used 65 billion 256 million gigabytes of internet.” shared his knowledge.
Expressing that 98.5 percent of the total 319.6 billion minutes of traffic is started from mobile networks, Karaismailoğlu noted that as of the last quarter of 2022, the average monthly usage time in mobile networks is 549 minutes.
