1 billion dollar offer for Turkey’s national helicopter Gökbey
Gökbey, Turkey’s first indigenous utility helicopter, attracted the attention of foreign countries even before it entered the inventory. An unnamed country made an offer of 1 billion dollars to buy 32 Gökbeys.
Tests are in full swing for Gökbey, Turkey’s first national utility helicopter. Gökbey, which is counting days to enter the inventory, is also on the radar of foreign countries. According to TRT News, a 1 billion dollar offer was received for Gökbey.
THEY WILL BUY 32 UNITS
Stating that there is an export offer of 1 billion dollars for Gökbey, which was developed within the scope of the contract signed between the Ministry of Defence Industries and TAI, Temel Kotil, the General Manager of TAI, said that this offer was made for 32 Gökbeys in the first stage, without specifying the country from which the offer came. While it was stated that this development is a serious prestige for Turkey, it was also noted that it could pave the way for similar exports in the future.
FIRST EXPECTED TO ENTER GENDARMERIE INVENTORY
With a total take-off weight of approximately 6 tons and a capacity of 12 passengers, Gökbey can stay in the air for nearly 4 hours and has a maximum range of 948 kilometers. Gökbey is expected to enter the inventory of the Gendarmerie General Command first.
WHERE WILL THE GÖKBEY BE USED?
The T625 GÖKBEY Helicopter, whose serial production is ongoing and three units will be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command in 2023, will be able to carry out transportation, VIP, cargo, air ambulance, search and rescue and off-shore transportation missions due to its wide range of missions.
