Xiaomi’s Humanoid Robot Stole Drums!
Chinese technology giant Xiaomi’s humanoid robot showed itself in a new video. This time CyberOne showed off his skills by playing the drums.
Xiaomi introduced its first humanoid robot last August. CyberOne, which has since disappeared, has appeared in a new video. During the presentation, the robot just walked on the stage and made some simple movements, this time demonstrating its skills by playing the drums.
Xiaomi engineers used a MIDI file that the robot could parse into drum beats. Based on this data, CyberOne was able to move its entire body in a coordinated manner in sync with the music.
Successfully Keeping Up With the Rhythm
The released footage shows CyberOne keeping up with the rhythm quite accurately, not just with sticks in his hand, but also using his feet and the pedals of the musical instrument. However, it is still far from the desired level, as it acts according to a pre-built algorithm instead of providing real-time adaptation.
Let’s remind you that Xiaomi’s humanoid robot is valued at about $100,000. But the Chinese company has no plans to commercialize or mass-produce the robot yet.
