Turkey’s First Domestic High-Tech Battery Powered Trolleybus Is Eeady For Use
Turkey’s first domestic high-tech battery powered trolleybus, designed and manufactured by Turkish engineering and carrying passengers without being connected to the catenary line (electric supply line), will start to be used in 2023.
Bozankaya company introduced “Trambus”, “Turkey’s first high-tech domestic battery powered” trolleybus, at the promotion ceremony held at its factories in Ankara Sincan 1st Organized Industrial Zone.
The first vehicle of the fleet of 12 vehicles specially produced for Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality was delivered. These vehicles are scheduled to enter service in 2023.
The vehicles, which are designed and produced with 100% Turkish engineering and can reach a maximum range of 50 kilometers without being connected to the catenary line with their batteries, have been produced with unlimited range thanks to their batteries that can be charged while driving. Go.
This saves time, fuel and maintenance costs. Trolleybuses provide fuel savings of up to 40 percent in one day compared to diesel vehicles, while this rate rises to 80 percent in maintenance. The economic equivalent of this savings is 3.5 million liras per year for Şanlıurfa only in fuel oil.
It does not harm the historical texture
Vehicles stand out in the fight against climate change with their features such as 24/7 operation, zero carbon emission, energy saving and battery system.
Trolleybuses, which can accommodate a total of 160 people, have a daily capacity of 95 thousand passengers and 32 percent seated passengers, while security and vehicle maintenance periods will be monitored remotely thanks to the in-vehicle smart software.
The trolleybus fleet is designed to be 18 meters long to carry passengers in the narrow streets of the city route, between historical buildings and sites.
Vibration-free and silent electric motors were made in a way that would not damage the historical texture of the city. Wi-Fi service will also be offered to passengers in the vehicle with tropical air conditioning, which will cool up to 60 degrees, specific to the climatic conditions of Şanlıurfa.
The first domestic metro set will be delivered in the first quarter of 2023
In his speech at the ceremony, Bozankaya Chairman of the Board Aytunç Günay said that these trolleybuses have low initial and operating costs, can carry more passengers, are an environmentally friendly project and will be an ideal environmentalist transportation solution in big cities. energy savings.
Günay stated that the catenary line infrastructure has not been established in historical places and that the vehicle can travel without being connected to the line thanks to the battery of the vehicle in question.
Noting that they aim to export the vehicles in question abroad, Günay stated that they are currently preparing 3 tenders abroad.
Emphasizing that the first domestic metro set to be used in Turkey’s Gebze-Darıca metro line will be delivered in the first quarter of 2023, Günay stated that test drives will start after 4-5 months. Günay noted that the production of the driverless, high-tech metro is about to end, and then they will go to the test phase.
