Schengen Visa Fees Increased: New Prices Announced!

Europe has accepted the proposal to increase the basic fee for the Schengen visa. Here are the details!

The recent increase in the price of Schengen visas by the European Commission is now in effect. As of today, citizens wishing to apply for this visa must pay the new prices.

As it is known, the Schengen visa is required for citizens of non-EU countries who cannot benefit from the 90-day visa exemption rule of the EU and the Schengen area. In this context, the relevant visa holders can enter a total of 29 European countries.

How Much Are The New Schengen Visa Fees?

With the European Commission’s increase in the fee for Schengen visa applications, 90 euros for adults and 45 euros for children between the ages of 6-12 will now have to be paid. As it is known, the previous prices were 80 euros and 40 euros respectively.

This 12 percent increase in prices covered the European Commission’s 2024 hikes and had been discussed by various channels for some time. With the acceptance of the proposal, a period of a few months began in which the increases would take effect, and this has now ended.

For countries that do not cooperate on the readmission of citizens, the cost rises to 135 euros or 180 euros. In contrast, the fee for a Schengen visa extension will remain unchanged at 30 euros.
