Container Ship Runs Aground In The Suez Canal
Shipping agency Leth Agency said one ship ran aground in the Suez Canal, leaving at least four ships on standby.
The company said tugboats were trying to refloat the ship, Xin Hai Tong 23.
The Suez Canal Authority said the ship had been moved again as of 07.40.
Two years ago, the Suez Canal, one of the world’s busiest waterways, was impassable for nearly a week after a giant container ship became stranded.
The Ever Given, one of the world’s largest container ships, closed the canal for six days.
The ship, operated by the Taiwanese firm Evergreen Marine, caused a backlog of hundreds of vessels trying to use the waterway.
