Ataturk TV series blocked by lobby: Successive reactions from Turkey
A digital platform’s decision to broadcast the Atatürk series, which was filmed to be shown all over the world, only in Turkey caused reactions. AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik said that the decision was taken under the pressure of the Armenian lobby and that it was shameful. IYI Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu also reacted to the decision.
The cancellation of the “Atatürk” series by a US-based digital platform caused reactions.
AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik said, “It is shameful that a US-based TV series/film platform bowed to the pressure of the Armenian lobby and cancelled the ‘Atatürk’ series without broadcasting it.”
In his post on his social media account, Çelik stated the following:
“It is shameful that an American-based TV series/film platform bowed to the pressure of the Armenian lobby and cancelled the ‘Atatürk’ series without broadcasting it.
This attitude of the platform in question is disrespectful to the values of the Republic of Turkey and our nation.
As we have stated on various occasions before, this so-called genocide network in the USA uses historical events as a tool for its politics of lies. The sole purpose of this lobby is to prevent the normalisation of Turkey-Armenia relations, as has been seen many times. The activities of these networks are nothing in the face of Atatürk and the Republic of Turkey. Shame on those who bow down to these networks.”
RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) TO RECEIVE THE ORGANISATION’S DEFENCE
On the other hand, Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) President Ebubekir Şahin announced that it has been decided to receive the defence of Disney +, which has decided not to broadcast the domestic content “Atatürk” series on its platform, and to initiate an investigation.
In a message shared on his social media account, Şahin said, “Based on the information reflected in the public opinion that the digital media service provider named Disney + has decided not to broadcast the domestic content ‘Atatürk’ series on its platform, it has been decided to receive the defence of the organisation and to initiate an investigation.”
Noting that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, is the most important social value, Şahin stated in his message that the allegations of “intervention of the Armenian lobby” reflected in the press are being meticulously investigated.
