Mersin port provides an important economic resource to the district due to its geographical condition. Spread over a very wide geography, Mersin is one of the most important cities in terms of history, culture and natural beauties to be seen. Here are the several places to visit in Mersin.
Pier Gate
During the Byzantine period, the city walls had three gates as Mountain, Adana and Sea. While Evliya Çelebi mentions Tarsus in his Travel Book, he named the gate here as Pier Gate.
The Maiden Castle
The Maiden Castle, also known as the Sea Castle, is located on an islet located on the coast of the neighborhood with the same name.
Mersin Marina
This marina is the largest marina in Turkey. It has been operating since 2011. It has a total mooring capacity, 500 of which are land and 500 are sea yachts. This place is one of the important meeting points of the people of Mersin.
Yapraklı Bay
Yapraklı Bay, perhaps one of the most beautiful bays of Silifke, is one of the most preferred bays by Mersin residents and tourists. It fascinates every visitor with its turquoise colored water and pool view. Since there is also a cold water source in the sea, you always come across a clean bay.
Yeşilovacık Public Beach
Yeşilovacık public beach is one of the quietest bays in Mersin’s Silifke district. The beach, which has a wide and long area, is also a sandy beach. The Bay is quiet and not too touristy. Therefore, there are no services such as sunbeds and umbrellas. You can lay your own towel and enjoy the sea.
