Who is Nurcan Taylan?

National athlete, female weightlifter. Olympic and World Champion Turkish female athlete. He was born on October 29, 1983 in Ankara. Originally, he is from a family from Sivas. She was discovered by coach Mehmet Üstündağ when she was 11 years old. She broke 6 European and 2 World records in weightlifting. She won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, breaking the world and Olympic record in the 48 kg category. Thus, for the first time in the history of Turkish sports, a female athlete achieved this success.

She was discovered at the age of 11 by trainer Mehmet Üstündağ. She broke 6 European and 2 World records in weightlifting. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she broke the world and Olympic record in the 48 kg category and won a gold medal. Thus, for the first time in the history of Turkish sports, a female athlete achieved this success.

In October 2004, national weightlifters Aylin Daşdelen, Sibel Şimşek and Şule Şahbaz took Turkish national team coach Mehmet Ustundag to court on charges of harassment. While the coach denied the allegations, Nurcan Taylan defended his teacher. An investigation was launched on the subject and Nurcan Taylan was prevented from participating in the 2005 World Championship in Bulgaria.

Nurcan Taylan failed to score 3 zeros at the 2008 Summer Olympics and was eliminated early, disappointing.

She gave the signals of returning to her old days by winning snatch, clean and jerk and 3 gold medals in total at the 2009 European Weightlifting Championships held in Romania.

Nurcan Taylan, who competed in the 48 kilos at the 2010 World Weightlifting Championships held in Antalya, became the owner of the world record and the gold medal by lifting 121 kilos in clean and jerk. Nurcan won the overall gold medal after the snatch and clean and jerk.

On 14 June 2012, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) banned Nurcan Taylan from competitions for 4 years, effective as of 26 October 2011, on the grounds of doping.[2] His sentence, which was reduced to 2 years in October 2012, ended on October 26, 2013.[3]A banned substance was detected in the biological passport of weightlifter Nurcan Taylan, who had been doping twice before and was sentenced to heavy penalties. Nurcan Taylan was banned for life as per IWF (International Weightlifting Federation) rules and her sports career ended. He was disqualified from all tournaments starting from the 2008 Summer Olympics until 2016, and his medals and achievements were deemed invalid.
