What Will the Minimum Wage in Turkey Be in 2022?

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will hold its first meeting tomorrow. The 2022 minimum wage figure, which directly affects 7 million employees and indirectly affects the salaries of all employees, also affects many items such as minimum living allowance (AGI) – unemployment benefits. The minimum wage increase, which is determined by the bargaining that continues throughout December every year, can be determined at the first meeting to be held this year. Breaking news: Tomorrow is an important day for the 2022 minimum wage hike. The Minimum Wage Determination Commission starts its first meeting tomorrow. This year could be the first for a minimum wage increase to come into effect from 2022. The call of the labor unions to determine the rate of increase at the first meeting received a positive signal from the Ministry and the employers’ union. All options are being explored, including the abolition of all taxes and deductions, in order to bring the minimum wage closer to 4 thousand liras.

MINIMUM WAGE EXPLANATION FROM PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the following statement regarding the minimum wage on his return from his visit to Turkmenistan: I do not think we will face a situation such as being fired because the minimum wage has increased. We are struggling to improve the living conditions of all segments of our nation, especially the low-income segments. We use the tools at our disposal to prevent undesirable situations from occurring. We don’t let anyone suffer.

THE MINIMUM WAGE WILL BE DETERMINED BY A TEAM OF 15 PEOPLE

In the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, the worker side will be represented by Türk-İş and the employer side by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK).

The commission, consisting of 5 members, consisting of representatives of workers, employers and the state, will determine the minimum wage figure that will be valid in the new year with four meetings it will hold until the end of December.
