Residence Permit

What Should Foreigners Do to Avoid Cancellation of Residence Permits while Changing Address in Turkey?

First of all, it should be known that foreigners must show a legal address for residence permit and that they will reside at this address with a rental contract, title deed, etc. It is a legal obligation to document them with documents. As a rule, if foreigners are to move from their current address to another address during their residence permit period, they have to notify the population directorate. In this article, we will briefly talk about the procedures to be followed by foreigners who change their legal residence address.

For example, if the foreigner is going to move from Istanbul to Antalya, the foreigner should go to the civil registry office in the district where the new address is located in the city of Antalya, where the foreigner will move, to register a new address and obtain an address registration document. Afterwards, in order to change the residence permit, it is necessary to apply to the immigration office located in the new province of residence within 20 days at the latest. If the type of residence permit will not change during this application process, no tuition fee is paid, but only the card fee is paid. If a change of address will be made within the same province, it is not necessary to apply for a new residence permit. However, the address change should be reported by going to the civil registry office and the address registration document should be obtained and reported to the Migration Management. If a change of address in the residence permit is noticed during the controls, the residence permit may be cancelled.
