Voting For The May 14 Elections Has Started At Customs

Voters registered in the voter registry abroad have started to go to the polls as of today.

Expats are reflecting their preferences for the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Voting At Border Crossings

Citizens registered in the overseas voter registry can vote at Kapıkule, İpsala, Pazarkule, Hamzabeyli and Dereköy, Turkey’s border gates to Europe.

Three ballot boxes were set up at Kapıkule (entrance, exit and station) and one each at İpsala, Pazarkule, Hamzabeyli and Dereköy border gates.

24-hour Enforcement At The Border

Polling committees consisting of a chairperson, a public official member and the members nominated by the three political parties that received the highest number of votes in Turkey in the last general election took their places in the polling stations at the border gates.

Voting at border crossings will take place on a 24-hour basis and will end at 17.00 on Sunday, May 14.

Stages Of Voting At Border Crossings

Voters registered in the foreign voter registry who want to vote at the customs will come to the platform designated at the border gates and declare that they want to vote.

The head of the ballot box will check whether the voter is registered in the overseas voter registry through the Election Information System (SEÇSİS) and, if so, will inquire whether the voter has voted.

Ballot Boxes Have Been Set Up At Istanbul Airport

After the voting process of Turkish citizens living abroad started at 08.00, voting procedures started at Istanbul Airport.

At the international terminal of the airport, ballot boxes were placed in two designated areas on the arrival and departure floors. During the voting process, first the members of the ballot committee took an oath. After the oath, the members of the ballot committee counted envelopes and ballots.
