Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6, which occurred in Kahramanmaraş yesterday with a 9-hour interval, have cost the lives of 3,549 people in 10 provinces so far. The death toll in Syria has exceeded 1500. While search and rescue efforts continued in both countries, earthquakes occupied the world agenda. While the newspapers carried the photos of the selfless work of the rescue teams in their headlines, it was evaluated as “the strongest earthquake of the century”.

The British newspaper The Guardian gave the headline of the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria with the headline “Disaster” – Thousands of people died in the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria. The headline photograph used the photograph of a little girl rescued from the rubble in Diyarbakır. The US Washington Post evaluated the situation in Syria’s Idlib province with the headline “Earthquake destroyed Turkey and Syria”. The newspaper also stated that the earthquake aggravated the already bad situation due to the war in northwest Syria.
