In the incident that took place on June 2, a fire broke out in the basement of a multi-storey building. As smoke rose from the area, most of the people living in the building rushed out.

However, it was reported that some sick and elderly people were trapped in the fire. While the people around immediately informed the fire department, the images taken while the firefighters intervened in the incident became the agenda on the social media.

After the firefighters’ intervention, which lasted for about two and a half hours, the fire was extinguished before it spread to the upper floors and completely covered the building. However, in this process, people who had relatives inside resorted to a different method. The people around the building gathered and started to call the prayer to put out the fire.

The first person to share the video, which spread in a short time on social media, was Imtiaz Mahmood, a Pakistani living in England. Mahmood said, “Yesterday, a fire broke out in a supermarket near Jail Chowringhee in Karachi. The call to prayer was called collectively to put out the fire.”
