The World’s Green Energy Project

When it comes to green energy, isn’t it solar or wind energy that comes to mind first? These energy sources that come to mind are above. However, the green energy source I will talk about is not above. Just below us, deep in the ground. In the near future, we may begin to harness the energy emanating from the earth’s core! This is good news!

The Earth’s Core Is Too Hot!

We know that the Earth’s core is hot. The temperature of the surface of the Sun, called the photosphere, is 5500°C. The core of the earth was thought to be at about this temperature, but according to the latest estimates, it was determined that it could reach 7000 degrees. That is, inside the Earth there is an iron sphere that is 70% of the radius of the Moon, and this sphere is hotter than the surface of the Sun. According to Paul Woskov, a fusion research engineer at MIT University, there is so much heat below the Earth’s surface that if we used one-thousandth of that, it could supply the entire world’s energy needs for more than 20 million years.

Turkey Is One Of The Lucky Countries

Geothermal Energy

Underground hot springs come very close to the surface in some places. Turkey is one of the lucky countries in this regard. With the studies started in the 1970s, it is the leader in Europe and the 4th in the world in geothermal energy capacity and direct use. According to the data of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 94% of Turkey’s geothermal resources are at low and medium temperatures. Therefore, it is suitable for direct applications. In other words, if there is hot water coming from the ground, you can make a spa or heat the houses. So what will the unfortunate regions do? It is necessary to go deeper in these areas. If we can drill deep enough, we can install geothermal plants wherever we want. But this is much more difficult than it seems.

the core of the earth

The thickness of the earth’s crust varies between 5 and 75 km. The thinnest parts are usually deep in the ocean. Therefore, it is necessary to drill very deep holes to pierce the bark. Energy is very important to everyone. In fact, it is so important that there is even a method that measures the technological progress of civilizations by the amount of energy they can use to communicate: the Kardashev scale. What did you say? Will the existing and possible energy wars in the world come to an end with the new green energy project?
