The happiest countries in the world revealed

Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for the 6th time in a row, according to the World Happiness Report rankings.

The 2023 data of the World Happiness Report has been announced.

According to the World Happiness Report, global happiness has not taken a hit in the three years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Happiness assessments from 2020 to 2022 have been “remarkably resilient”, with global averages essentially in line with the three years preceding the pandemic, according to the report.

FINLAND RANKS FIRST FOR THE 6TH TIME IN A ROW

Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for the sixth year in a row, according to the World Happiness Report rankings, based largely on life assessments from the Gallup World Survey.

The report covered metrics such as life expectancy, GDP per capita, social support, corruption, generosity in society and the freedom to make important decisions.

On the list, Israel was ranked 9th last year, but this year it has risen to 4th place. The Netherlands ranked 5th, Switzerland 8th, Luxembourg 9th and New Zealand 10th.

Australia ranked 12th, Canada 13th, Ireland 14th, the United States 15th and the United Kingdom 19th, making it into the top 20.

While the same countries tend to rank in the top 20 every year, a new country entered the list this year: Lithuania. The Baltic country has climbed steadily over the last 6 years, moving from 52nd in 2017 to 20th now. Other Baltic countries are in the 31st place, Estonia and Latvia 41st.

REWARDING AND BELOW RANKED COUNTRIES

France fell from the top 20 in this year’s report to 21st place.

At the bottom of the list is Afghanistan at number 137.

WHAT IS THE SITUATION WITH RUSSIA AND UKRAINE?

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine placed both countries at the center of the global agenda at the time of the 2022 report. So, how are these two countries, according to the latest surveys?

Prosperity has certainly taken a hit in Ukraine, but confidence in governments has increased in both countries in 2022, according to the survey. In this year’s ranking, Russia ranked 70th and Ukraine 92nd.
