Trakya University Plant Breeding Application and Research Center Director and Head of the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering Prof. Dr. Yalcin Kaya was deemed worthy of the “Pustovoit Prize”, known as the “Sunflower Nobel Prize”, given every 4 years by the World Sunflower Association.
Making important studies on sunflower, Prof. Dr. Kaya received her award at the ceremony held at the 20th International Sunflower Conference held in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Kaya said that he was proud of receiving the award.
Expressing that a Turkish scientist was deemed worthy of the “Pustovoit Award” for the first time, Kaya expressed that he was happy to represent Turkey successfully.
Explaining that the World Sunflower Association, headquartered in France, rewards scientists who have excelled in the field of sunflower, Kaya said, “The award is given every 4 years and is called the nobel of the sunflower. It is the highest award that a scientist working in the field of sunflower can receive. The World Sunflower Association, 4 Every year, it gives this award to scientists who do successful work in the international arena. Reminding that he served as the term president of the World Sunflower Association in 2012-2016, Kaya noted that he would continue to work for pioneering studies in the field of sunflower.
