Roman Tombs Found Underground in Adiyaman!

During the excavations in the Kahta district of Adiyaman, 3 tombs belonging to the Roman period were found. It was determined that in addition to pottery, miniature axes and some items thought to belong to the Roman period were also found in the graves. Work has begun on the renovation of the water reservoir, which was built in 1973 in Adıyaman and is no longer sufficient. During the works, 3 tomb structures made of smooth cut stones were unearthed.

3 Graves Found at a Depth of 4 Meters

In addition to pottery, miniature axes and some items thought to belong to the Roman period were found in the tombs. Museum Director Mehmet Alkan told reporters that the work was completed and the tombs were protected. Stating that the tombs are considered to belong to the Roman period, Alkan said, “The elevation of approximately 4 meters was reached during the excavations. As a result of this leveling work, 3 tombs were unearthed.” said.
