South Korea and Japan reported that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles in the direction of the Sea of Japan. South Korea’s Chief of Army announced that the trials were carried out at 07:41 and 07:51 local time from the southwestern Jangyon region.

Short-range ballistic missiles (SRBM) were reported to have traveled more than 600 kilometers in the air and crashed into the Sea of Japan. Japanese Defense Minister Hamada Yasukazu said that the missiles in question fell outside the Japanese national exclusive economic zone. Likewise, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio said in a statement that there was no damage to the cruise elements in the area where the missiles fell.

Cabinet Chief Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu stated that with missile tests of various types, the Pyongyang administration could increase its provocations in the region. It is noteworthy that the trial was conducted after the “Liberty Shield” exercise, which was launched yesterday by the South Korean and US armies and was planned to last until 23 March.
