New Waterfalls Added to the Beauties of Ordu

To the Beauties of Ordu, 20 more newly discovered 300 waterfalls have been added to the 300 waterfalls over approximately 2 thousand streams in Ordu. City of Waterfalls Ordu Media, Promotion, Culture and Tourism Association President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yilmaz said, “I am of the opinion that the number of waterfalls in Ordu will increase in the following processes.”

City of Waterfalls Ordu Media, Promotion, Culture and Tourism Association continues its efforts to identify undiscovered waterfalls in the city that are not included in the inventory. In addition to the 300 waterfalls that have been discovered over approximately 2 thousand streams and opened to the visit of the citizens, 20 more were discovered and included in the inventory during the studies carried out by university students. The students, who viewed the waterfalls and took their photos, started working to get them on the tourism route.

“WE DETECT UNSEEN WATERFALLS”

City of Waterfalls Ordu Media, Promotion, Culture and Tourism Association President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yilmaz stated that they received support from the local residents during the discovery and said that they detected invisible waterfalls. Stating that there are 300 waterfalls in the city, even the people of Ordu do not know, Yilmaz said, “We are detecting waterfalls that are not known to the people in the region, that have not been included in the inventory, have not been visited, and have not been seen. Besides these, there are known waterfalls, but these waterfalls are not included in the route of Ordu’s waterfalls to visit. Therefore, there are 300 waterfalls that are already known and talked about. However, there are also waterfalls that local people know, but those of Ordu and even Ordu lovers do not know. We record them. We discover the unknown, the unknown, the undiscovered. In terms of tourism. “The story of these waterfalls is very important. We listen to the stories of the saints in the waterfall and the stories of those who came to find healing from the local people. We learn very different things. This really makes us very happy to be able to create added value for the country in terms of tourism,” he said.

Noting that they have identified more than 20 new waterfalls, Yilmaz said, “We can say that we have identified more than 20 new waterfalls as an association. They do not have names naturally. We try to give some names according to the special texture and coordinates of that region as much as possible. “Most importantly, we included the waterfalls that were known but never came to light in the inventory and introduced them. This is more meaningful for us.”

“We are looking for local people who see our work, they write on social media and they say, ‘There is such a waterfall in my garden.’ We go and look,” said Yilmaz. “They exist as waterfalls flowing very loudly. They will multiply over time. We will continue our work as long as our project is well received. I believe that the number of waterfalls in Ordu will increase in the future,” he said.
