Patara Beach

Patara Beach

The year 2020 was declared as Patara Year by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Patara Antic City, 1 km from the beach, is an important city in history. Patara Beach is 43 km away from Kas. It is the world’s 1st longest beach with 18 km of beach length and a width of 1500 meters. Consisting of fine sand, the beach is also the spawning ground for Caretta Caretta turtles. Therefore, the beach is closed except from 8 am to 8 pm. There is a daily facility belonging to Kaş municipality, which provides beach services. Only parasols are placed in front of this place. Since the beach is a natural protected area, it preserves its virgin atmosphere.

Since it is an open sea, it mostly has a wavy sea. It is a spot preferred by windsurfers thanks to its constant wind. At the same time, Patara is a spot where the sunset is very beautiful. Gelemis Village, which is the closest settlement to Patara Beach, offers various alternatives for those who want to stay close to the beach. The dunes in the middle of the beach are worth seeing. Many desert scenes from old Turkish movies were shot here. The view is especially beautiful at sunset. A horse farm in Patara also organizes 2.5-hour tours, where you can ride the ancient area, the beach and the dunes in the morning and evening hours. This beach, where you can enjoy the sea with its white beaches resembling the Maldives, will make your holiday unforgettable.

Transportation

To reach the Patara beach, you can use minibuses departing from Kas bus station every 20 minutes in summer. You get off at the junction and move on to another service for a 6 km. To reach the beach, you first pass by Gelemis village, where there are many accommodation facilities and cafes, and then the Ancient City of Patara. Those who buy tickets for Patara Antique entrance do not pay any fees at the entrance to the beach.
