It is a public research university in İzmir, Turkey. It is a state university established with the main aim of making high-level education, training and research in the technological field. The language of instruction at Izmir Institute of Technology is English. Today, it is the only example of high technology institutes in our country, which is one of the most advanced technical university models in the world. The faculties and departments started to operate in 1994 with the opening of graduate programs, and in 1998, student admission to undergraduate programs was started. In the Institute, which has an area of approximately 3500 hectares, education and research activities are carried out in a closed area of approximately 132.000 m² and the campus is constantly developing. The academic structure of Izmir Institute of Technology consists of 3 faculties and an institute. Education and research activities are carried out in 18 undergraduate, 25 graduate and 19 doctoral programs in the institute. In all the programs, a total of 5588 students, approximately 4299 of which are undergraduate, receive education. International norms are used in education and research. With student-centered, project-based education methods, it is aimed to train the students as researchers, creative, entrepreneurs, successful in teamwork, and modern individuals who will produce our own technology.
The main campus has an ecosystem that more than 60 communities, established to enable students to spend their leisure time according to their interests, to gain the habit of recreation and entertainment, to organize activities related to culture and fine arts, can continue their activities.
In terms of accommodation opportunities, it projects the facilities that will be suitable for its growing presence in its 34 thousand decare land. Currently, within the boundaries of the campus, there is a 1152-bed Credit Dormitory Institution Dormitory and a private dormitory with a capacity of 536 beds for 1,3,4 each.
Its campus is in İzmir’s Urla district, Gülbahçe Village. The campus is 60 km from İzmir, 15 km from Urla and 35 km from Çeşme. Although it is far from the center, there are buses and minibuses that provide transportation to the city and surrounding districts, and transportation within the campus can be provided by free minibuses and rings.
The School of Foreign Languages provides English preparatory education to undergraduate and graduate students admitted to Izmir Institute of Technology. The fact that the language of instruction in the institute is English increases the importance of Foreign Language Education and means a difficult preparation period for the students studying at our College. In addition to foreign language education, which is its main function, the School of Foreign Languages, being aware of its important mission, continues its research and development activities in order to increase the quality of education.
