The hospital was opened in 1970 in the region of Istanbul Sağmalcılar with a capacity of 20 beds, with a protocol signed between the Ministries of Justice and Health, to serve convicted patients. In the 1990s, the new 4-storey building on a 300m2 area was built by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to serve the civilian population in addition to prisoners, and the hospital has become a 50-bed capacity Hospital. However, due to the increasing number of patient applications, the 2-storey, 450 m2 polyclinic building was built and put into service in 1992. Emergency and polyclinic services are currently provided in this building. The second additional buildingwas started in 1993 to meet the increasing need. It was opened to the public service with donations made in 2003 as a result of cooperation with Bayrampaşa Municipality, District Governorship and surrounding businessmen, and our hospital has become 100 beds. As a result of the earthquake survey, it was decided to strengthen the hospital, and the reinforcement constructions started in 2009 by the Special Provincial Administration were completed at the end of 2012. Thus, the hospital has been modernized and made modern. 75% of the rooms serve as single rooms with toilet and bathroom. In its latest form, around 4500 patients are examined and around 70 surgeries are performed daily in our hospital. As Bayrampaşa Public Hospital, it has been decided to build a new modern hospital with 300 beds, and our Ministry continues to work at the project and place allocation phase.
