LOSS OF LIFE INCREASED TO 16 THOUSAND 546

Erdoğan visited the earthquake victims who were being treated at the hospital in Kilis, and conveyed his wishes to get well soon. In a statement after the visit, Erdogan said, “We faced the biggest earthquake disaster this region has ever seen in history. Kilis was one of our cities affected by this disaster. Unfortunately, we have a very serious death toll in this disaster centered in Kahramanmaras. I was in Hatay, another city affected. On the other hand, 178 buildings were destroyed, 73 citizens died and 690 of our citizens were injured.

“100 THOUSAND STAFF ON THE FIELD”

Noting that now more than 100,000 personnel and thousands of public, civil society and international aid teams are on duty, President Erdogan said that all kinds of domestic and foreign aid flows to all logistics centers.

Stating that aid materials and volunteers from every province and district of Turkey continue to come to the provinces in the earthquake zone, Erdoğan said:

“The organization of both materials and personnel in the earthquake zone is carried out by AFAD. Undoubtedly, there may be deficiencies in such a wide-ranging and deeply affecting disaster. And we are in an effort to quickly eliminate these deficiencies. Despite this, our ministries, institutions, non-governmental organizations and citizens are working hard. , is making an effort to help earthquake victims. We will not leave any of our citizens unattended. As of now, we will support our earthquake victims with 10 thousand liras in the first place. And for those whose houses were destroyed, through TOKİ, under the coordination of my Minister of Environment and Urbanization, within a year, the construction of these houses We will do it just like before.”

“DO NOT Worry, OUR CITIZENS WILL HAVE THEIR HOUSES FAST”

Erdogan said, “I wish our citizens in 10 cities get well soon from here once again” and said:

“I wish God’s mercy to all our citizens who lost their lives, and I wish patience to their relatives. From the moment of the earthquake, our institutions took place in 10 of our provinces and carried out whatever was necessary. However, the fact that the earthquake was effective in an area of 500 kilometers, where 13.5 million people live, made our work difficult as you can appreciate. Despite this, our state has rapidly started search and rescue and aid activities in the disaster area with all its institutions. More than 100,000 personnel, thousands of public, non-governmental and international aid teams are now on duty in the field. All kinds of aid flows to all logistics centers, both domestic and foreign. Aid materials and volunteers from every province of our country continue to come to our provinces in the earthquake zone. The organization of both materials and personnel in the earthquake zone is carried out by AFAD. There may be deficiencies in a disaster that has profound effects. We are trying to quickly fix these shortcomings. Despite this, our ministries, institutions, NGOs and our citizens are working hard to help earthquake victims. We will not leave any of our citizens unattended. As of now, we will support our earthquake victims with 10 thousand lira each. Regarding those whose houses were demolished, we will carry out the construction of these houses within a year under the coordination of my Minister of Environment and Urbanization through TOKİ. We will clear our destroyed cities from the debris first. In 10 provinces, we will ensure that our contractor companies quickly remove these debris and then quickly ensure that the contractor companies start construction there. Our concern is that we have proved that we, as the state, stand by our citizens there, just as we completed the constructions quickly and delivered them to their owners, both in Van, Bingöl, İzmir, and recently in Malatya, Elazığ, as well as in the flood disasters in Kastamonu, Antalya and Muğla. Now, in our 10 provinces, there should be no worries, our citizens will have their houses quickly. I hope none of our citizens will be left without shelter and housing, and we will solve them.”

“DELAYS CAN BE EXPERIENCED UNINTENTIONALLY”

Highlights from Erdogan’s speech in Osmaniye are as follows:

  • Osmaniye is one of the cities hit by the earthquake. Unfortunately, the number of those who lost their lives reached 16 thousand 170. The number of our wounded reached 64 thousand 194. The number of destroyed buildings is 6 thousand 444.
  • Inevitably, some delays may occur. We have taken all the steps from the declaration of a disaster area to the emergency decision in our parliament. I think that within an hour the parliament will make its decision.
  • Hopefully, within 1 year, as TOKİ, we will realize the construction of the houses. We support earthquake victims during the transition period.
  • We have the opportunity to host those who request and accept them in hotels in Antalya and Alanya. THY planes will organize flights to these places.
  • Hundreds of thousands of people take part in aid efforts. All kinds of teams, vehicles and vehicles from all over our country were directed to the region.
