President Erdogan met with Russian President Putin as part of his contacts in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, for the 6th Summit of the Conference on Cooperation and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The meeting of Erdogan and Putin at the Independence Palace, where the summit was held, continues closed to the media.
FIRST MESSAGES AT THE CRITICAL SUMMIT
Erdogan: Akkuyu is a very, very important step. Akkuyu meets our 10 percent energy needs, while Sinop also meets 10 percent. Our 20 percent energy needs will be met. We should continue to strengthen the agreement on grain transportation. It is very important to our determination and the work of our friends to do with each other. I think the work they will do will make us very strong.
Putin: We want to make Turkey the largest gas center in the world. Turkey is the safest route in gas supply.
