In Naipyusuf village of Edirne, within the framework of the ‘Koleda’ celebrations, which is a thousand-year-old Balkan tradition, citizens in terrible clothes frightened the people by going from house to house until late at night.

‘Koleda’, a thousand-year-old Balkan tradition, was celebrated in the village of Naipyusuf of Havsa district of Edirne. Numerous citizens dressed in gruesome clothes then painted their faces.
They scared the citizens by wearing scary clothes on the ‘Koleda’ night.

THE VILLAGE PEOPLE FEARED LOOKING ON THE STREETS

Citizens, who also wore various masks, frightened the villagers by walking around the streets as per tradition. The participants, who met in the village square, gathered around the fires lit here. Then, the pumpkin dessert made by the villagers was served to the guests on trays.
