What are the materials required for soap making? How to make soap at home? Home soap making guide for those who want to make their own soap.

Making soap at home is a very enjoyable and easy process. If you want to get a new hobby and gift it to your friends, we will share with you everything you need. The most fun part of making soap is then using homemade soaps. So what materials are needed to make soap at home?

Materials;

  • A large steel pot
  • Thermometer
  • Measuring cup
  • Apron and mouth mask
  • digital scale
  • Wooden spoon
  • blender
  • Pattern
  • Oil (as you wish; olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, hazelnut oil, corn oil etc.)
  • Sodium hydroxide (this is the usual ‘sink open’ and you can buy two or three packs at the grocery store)
  • This
  • Coloring and fragrant essence (optional)

How is it done?

The most important thing in this business is to adjust the ratio of the oils to be used with the sodium hydroxide and water mixture called “lye”. There are automatic calculators on various websites for this. In other words, I can find out the answer to the question of how many liters of “lye” is needed for x liters of olive oil.
The second important thing is the preparation of the “lye”. Because instead of adding sodium hydroxide to water, if you add water to sodium hydroxide, you may encounter a volcanic eruption. You must be careful. Put on a mask and gown and slowly pour the sodium hydroxide into the water. Of course, the water should be cold and drinking water because when you pour sodium hydroxide, the temperature of the water rises to 70-80 degrees.

Then mix it with a wooden spoon and let it sit until it comes to room temperature. In the meantime, mix the oils you want to use in the steel pot in the proportions we calculated before, and heat them up to 40 degrees.

We take the “lye” that comes to room temperature and slowly pour it into this oil. Blend for five minutes with the help of a blender and now the soap is ready! Take your liquid soap, pour it into the mold and wait 24 hours.

It will take shape after 24 hours. Remove the soaps from the mold and let them dry. A trick is to leave it in the sun for a month or two in the summer and put it in the oven at a low temperature in the winter to take its shape. The soap you make will be much better than the ones sold in the market because it contains real oil, no detergent, no chemicals.
