Burning problem appeared on AMD Ryzen 7000X3D processors for no apparent reason. Although AMD has not yet confirmed the problem, the problem is thought to be caused by the BIOS.
Some AMD Ryzen 7000X3D processor owners have started reporting issues with chips overheating and burning their new motherboards. Although not yet confirmed, the issue is suspected to be BIOS related.
Ryzen 7000X3D users beware!
With 3D V-Cache support for performance and power efficiency, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is currently one of the best processors on the market. Although the processor, which offers a great price advantage, has satisfied the majority, apparently not everyone is satisfied. A Reddit user named Speedrookie was one of the first to have this dissatisfaction. According to the reports, the fans started to run at full speed when the system was idle and 00 QCode appeared on the DEBUG LED of the motherboard. Speedrookie decided to take the system apart to investigate and observed that both the processor and part of the AM5 socket were burned.
Speedrookie reported that through the EPXO 1 profile, the CPU is not overclocked, but the memory is overclocked. So the problem seems to be caused by BIOS and unstable EXPO profiles. On the other hand, Speedrookie is not the only one having this problem. Interestingly, in addition to the Ryzen 7000X3D, another system with the Ryzen 7950X3D had the same problem. What’s even more interesting is that both systems use Asus AM5 motherboards. Although this problem has appeared to a few people for now, it seems that the problem is mostly experienced on Asus motherboards, but there are scenarios with MSI motherboards.
For now, it has not been announced officially what the problem is caused by. However, if you have a system with Ryzen 7000X3D processors, we recommend that you upgrade your BIOS to the latest version and stay away from EXPO profiles until you determine that the system is completely stable.
