Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi pointed to the protests that started in the country after a young woman died after being detained and said, “The enemy has launched a hybrid war against a strong and independent Iran.” Speaking after the Council of Ministers meeting held in the capital Tehran, the Iranian President evaluated the country’s agenda, according to the Iranian state television. “He started a hybrid war to deal with a strong and independent Iran.”
Reisi stated that in order to overcome the problems Iran is in, top officials, economists and elites in the country should make more efforts than ever and meet the needs of the people.
Demonstrations in Iran
The death of 22-year-old Mahsa Emini, who was taken into a coma and hospitalized after being detained by Irshad patrols known as the “morality police” in Tehran on September 13, sparked protests in Iran against the country’s government. Although statements were made about the death of the security forces, no clear information was given about the death toll. Norway-based Iranian Human Rights Organization announced that 304 people died in the demonstrations last week. According to the news reflected in the Iranian media, more than 40 security guards have lost their lives in the demonstrations so far. The Iranian administration evaluates the events that have been going on for about two months as “a conspiracy of forces such as the USA, Israel and England aimed at dividing the country”. The Tehran administration also argues that “International Iran” television is supported by Saudi Arabia.
